Outpatients Healthcare Assistant

Full time - Permanent

Main Duties

Working as part of a team, you will provide high-quality clinical and Non-Clinical support. You will also support the delivery of primary care, physical health, mental health, and learning disability services, ensuring care is delivered safely, respectfully, and in line with NHS standards, prison security requirements, and professional boundaries. You must be experience in Phlebotomy to be considered for this role.

Job Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role will vary and include the following:

  • Undertake NHS Health Checks in accordance with national and local protocols

  • Assist with and conduct Physical Health checks for Mental Health and Learning Disability patients, escalating concerns to the appropriate clinician

  • Perform phlebotomy competently and safely, maintaining infection prevention and control standards

  • Provide wound care, including dressing changes and monitoring healing, within HCA scope of practice

  • Accurately record all clinical activity in electronic patient records

  • Observe, monitor, and report changes in patients physical or mental health to registered staff

Person Specification

Essential

  • Care Certificate Qualification

  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a healthcare setting

  • Competency in phlebotomy.

  • Basic wound care

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work calmly and professionally in a challenging environment

  • Basic IT skills and ability to use electronic patient records

Experience

Desirable

  • Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment

up to £32,134 per annum depending on experience
