This policy applies to all Ceedars staff, trainers, contractors, volunteers, candidates, and anyone interacting with our services. We work with vulnerable adults (those in social care settings) and international students who may be at risk of exploitation.

We are vigilant against all forms of abuse, including:

  • Physical Abuse: Hitting, pushing, restraining, or any physical harm

  • Emotional/Psychological Abuse: Threats, humiliation, intimidation, isolation

  • Financial Abuse: Theft, fraud, exploitation, controlling finances

  • Sexual Abuse: Any non-consensual sexual contact or behaviour

  • Neglect: Failure to provide necessary care, support, or resources

  • Modern Slavery: Trafficking, forced labour, debt bondage

  • Discriminatory Abuse: Abuse based on race, gender, disability, sexuality, etc.

  1. Acknowledgment (within 2 hours): DSL acknowledges receipt of concern

  2. Initial Assessment (within 24 hours): DSL evaluates seriousness and required actions

  3. Investigation or Referral: Investigated internally or referred to appropriate authority

  4. Outcome: Appropriate action taken, reporter informed (where possible)

  5. Documentation: All concerns logged securely

In serious cases, we will refer to:

  • Local Authority Safeguarding Team: For adult safeguarding concerns

  • Police: For criminal matters (dial 999 in emergencies)

  • Care Quality Commission (CQC): For regulated care settings

  • Modern Slavery Helpline: 08000 121 700

Anyone who reports a safeguarding concern in good faith is protected from retaliation. We encourage reporting and will support whistle blowers.

All Ceedars staff and trainers complete Level 2 Safeguarding Adults training. DSL completes Level 3. Training is refreshed annually.

This policy is reviewed annually and updated as needed. Last review: December 2025.
